vest a k9

Greenfield, WI, July 5th, 2016 – The 5th annual MECA Vest A K9 Fest is right around the corner! Held on Saturday, July 23rd, 2016 at the Milwaukee Emergency Center for animals, 3670 S. 108th Street in Greenfield, the event raises funds for the Wisconsin Police Canine Vest Foundation (MECA Foundation).

“I started the MECA Foundation with the goal to provide a bullet and stab resistant vest to every police canine working in Wisconsin. Year after year, this fundraiser has allowed us to continue pursuing this mission,” said Dr. Marla Lichtenberger, founder of MECA Foundation and owner of Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals.

The FREE event is open to the public, beginning at 10am.  Pets are welcome to participate in the morning pet blessing, courtesy of Father Bill Burkert of Our Lady of Lourdes.  Up and coming country star, Nora Collins then takes the stage to entertain fest-goers with cover and original songs.

Children and adults alike will enjoy the shows throughout the day.  Watch some of Wisconsin’s police canines work with their handlers as they demonstrate apprehensions, searches, and more!  Head over to the Agility Tent to watch dogs compete against the clock on an obstacle course or enjoy a quiet moment with our performing mimes. Kids and parents can take in our reptile show, featuring snakes, lizards, turtles and other surprise reptilian guests.

Sports fans are able to line up early for Milwaukee Brewers’ autographs.  Bring your favorite baseball memorabilia or photo for Corey Knebel, Michael Blazek, Alex Presley, Taylor Jungmann, Zach Davies, Kirk Nieuwenhuis, Jeremy Jeffress, Hernan Perez, Will Smith, Chase Anderson and Scooter Gennett to sign!

MECA Vest A K9 Fest’s ever-growing vendor area will be filled with local companies who are strong supporters of Wisconsin’s police canines and the MECA Foundation.  Take up some shopping between the raffles held throughout the day.  Silent auction bidding begins at 10am with the auction closing at 2pm.
